The Hallstatt-Dachstein / Salzkammergut region

Part of UNESCO’s World Heritage

You are free to continue along Dr.-Friedrich-Morton-Weg now or linger a little on the bench in front of Number 162 while you enjoy Highlight 7, “UNESCO World Heritage”.

In December 1997 the Hallstatt-Dachstein / Salzkammergut region is finally added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites. A unique honour, as Hallstatt shares this list with world famous cultural assets such as the Egyptian pyramids or the Great Wall of China.

This highlights Hallstatt’s long and colourful history as well as the incomparable beauty of the region. A rich, cultural heritage upheld by people in and around Hallstatt in harmony with their natural resources.

Hear now the 3 details from Highlight 7 “UNESCO World Cultural Heritage” and then walk down Dr-Friedrich-Morton-Weg until you get to Seestraße. Seestraße is Highlight 8 of our Hallstatt walk.
