If you look at the old houses on the lake, built like swallows’ nests on the mountain, you get an idea of how Hallstatt looked before Seestraße was built. The inhabitants could only reach their dwellings via a narrow mountain path or by water.
]Even today the people of Hallstatt not only live in harmony with nature, they are also connected to their nearly 7,000-year-old history. Loving care and maintenance of these old houses are a matter of course.
