Watercolour by Rudolf Ritter von Alt (1873) showing the general view of the Imperial Forum. The Imperial Forum is designed by architect Carl von Hasenauer in 1869, 3 years later architect Gottfried Semper remodels Hasenauer’s plans. Both the Naturhistorisches Musuem and the Kunsthistorisches Museum, which can be seen in the foreground on the left and the right, are completed. As well as the right wing of the Vienna Hofburg including Festsaaltrakt, Neue Burg and Corps de Logis. The symmetrically laid structures to span Vienna’s Ringstraße and the planned left wing of the Hofburg on Heldenplatz are not built.
