MuseumsQuartier Wien

Enjoy art and culture, meet interesting people, be inspired, or simply relax – covering over 20 acres and with 60 cultural institutions, the MuseumsQuartier Wien is not only one of the world’s largest hubs for contemporary art but also an oasis of calm in the heart of the city.

Nothing is off-limits at the MuseumsQuartier. Historical architecture meets contemporary design. High culture meets subcultures. The spectrum ranges from fine art, architecture, music, fashion, theater, dance, and literature to children’s culture, game culture, and street art to design and photography. In addition to the nine major museums, exhibition halls and event spaces (Architekturzentrum Wien, DSCHUNGEL WIEN, Halle E + G, Kunsthalle Wien, Leopold Museum, mumok, Tanzquartier Wien, wienXtra-kinderinfo, ZOOM Kindermuseum), there are around 50 other smaller players on site: initiatives, festivals, art collectives, and creative industries. They have found a home in the MQ’s “creative space,” known as Q21.

An unforgettable all-round experience, the chance to appreciate and enjoy the cultural complex’s diversity, and easy access to culture are made possible through a range of free cultural events in the MQ courtyards throughout the year. At the same time, the MuseumsQuartier is “Vienna’s living room.” The world-famous outdoor seating is an integral element in the design of the MQ courtyards, inviting visitors to chat and relax.

You can have a conversation with friends and come face to face with great culture. The MuseumsQuartier is a space for living, a creative space, and an art space. The many different people who come together here create a climate of cosmopolitanism and creativity. The MuseumsQuartier is somewhere that never stands still and where there’s always something new and surprising to be discovered – something for everyone. There’s a feel-good factor to being at the MQ.
