The Albertina, located in Vienna’s historic city centre, combines great art with imperial flair. As a magnificent former residence of the Habsburgs and an art museum of international standing, the name of which also stands for one of the world’s most important collections of graphic art, the Albertina is a magnet for urban and cultural tourists from all over the world.

The museum offers a diverse exhibition programme that features outstanding artworks created between the 15th century and the present day. With the special presentations such as Albrecht Dürer, Raphael, Claude Monet or Van Gogh, recent years have seen the Albertina draw record numbers of visitors.

With its permanent collection, the core of which is taken from the Batliner Collection, one of Europe’s most important collections of international classical modernist art, the Albertina offers an overview of the most interesting chapters from the past 130 years of art history, that is unique in Vienna and, indeed, in Austria.

The 20 state rooms embody a scintillating tribute to the residential and representational culture of the Habsburg period in one of Europe’s most beautiful classicist palaces.
