Parapet

The parapet is finished off with tracery in trefoil and quatrefoil styles, symbolic ornamentation upon which the entire church is based. Along the hand rail are all manner of hellish creatures – amphibians, lizards and toads – all struggling and biting one another in an effort to ascend to the pulpit, only to be met by 2 guard dogs. The animals symbolise the eternal fight of good against evil, of life over death.
