The generals

Generals Gallas and Piccolomini

Rewarded traitors

Generals Matthias Gallas and Octavio Piccolomini do more than stand by their commander-in-chief, Ferdinand of Bohemia and Hungary. During the 30 Years War they acquire wealth and military honours by knowing the right moment to switch sides.

Formally serving under General Wallenstein, they change loyalties when his removal and murder is in planning. Ferdinand rewards them by making them highly decorated commanders of the imperial troops.
