The fire element
A lighted oil lamp forms the tongue and chin - the protruding lower lip characteristic of the Hapsburg line is unmistakeable. A large candle serves as the neck muscles, an extinguished candle stump as the eye and a wound fuse as the forehead. Arcimboldo has created the face exclusively from objects used in his time for making fire.
