God the Father
God is enthroned on a cloud at the top of the tree. He gazes down benevolently, holding a sceptre studded with brilliants and pearls in his right hand. The fall of the folds of his robes is intense and intricate, and this is an important emotional device in Baroque sculpture; strong movement in the clothing as a symbol for inner stimulation. The globe God carries as a sign of his mightiness is a rounded sapphire.
