Jesus is seen here riding into the city of Jerusalem and blessing the crowd. A colt is walking between the donkey’s legs. The diptych’s anonymous creator is recalling Matthew’s Gospel: Jesus asks his disciples expressly for a female ass and her colt for the ride into Jerusalem. In the background on the left are2 Apostles following Jesus into the city, on the right a cheering crowd.
