Der Mann ohne Vorurtheil

The “Mann ohne Vorurtheil” (“Man without Prejudice”) was a weekly magazine that appeared in Vienna in the mid-1760s. The editor was Joseph von Sonnenfels (1733-1817). The magazine was a central medium in which he could spread his ideals on the Enlightenment and on German as the literary language throughout the Habsburg Empire as well as in other parts of Europe. His concepts were widely read and adopted beyond the narrow spheres of influence he enjoyed politically and at universities, as were his views on theatre censorship and the improvement of German for the stage.
