Organ at St. Stephen

The original façade pipes by organ builder Johann Hencke from the year 1744 are extremely rare, as they were often romanticised in the 19th century. The front half of the pipes in Baden were spared this fate and could be made to produce sound again.

The keys of historical organs are almost more seldom preserved than their pipes. The originals, made from ebony and ox bone, were discovered in the repository of the church choir and could again be used for their intended purpose.
