The Number Three

A Structure Takes Shape

The Number Three Defines the Concept

The fundamental concept of the floor plan reveals an equilateral triangle with an inscribed dome circle, emphasizing that the church symbolically represents the Trinity. Both the architecture and the furnishings embody the Holy Trinity, making it evident that the number three plays a prominent role in the construction of the church.

This is manifested in the arrangement of three towers housing the sacristy, confessional, and Mary's chapel. Additionally, there are three doors, and opposite these, three altars are situated in the three apses. Above the entrances lie three organs by the Passau organ builder Johann Ignaz Egedacher.

The three equally significant facades are characterized by projecting and recessed masonry elements, as well as chamfered corners of the three towers. The central space is crowned by a dome roof with an elevated triangular lantern.

In its entirety, the Trinity Church is a tangible symbol of the Trinity in architecture. Every detail is determined by the number three: three doors, three towers, three half-domes, three marble portals, three altars, and three organs
