Shortly after Adalbero's death, he was venerated by the people and found his way into the Lambach liturgy, becoming part of religious ceremonies and worship. Since then, residents of Lambach have reported healings at Adalbero's grave. Thus, from the end of the 12th century, the cult and veneration of St Adalbero begins.
But it was not until the 19th century that Pope Leo XIII recognised it as an official cult. The Adalbero Festival has been held in Lambach since 1884. The bones of Adalbero are solemnly carried through the monastery community in a procession. The Latin term for this is translatio and means as much as transfer or opening of the grave.
