A Savoyard worm cutter

A Savoyard worm cutter is a travelling quack who tries to rid people of disease-causing worms through surgical procedures. This originated in Savoy, France, and found its way to Austria because for centuries there was a lack of livelihood opportunities in Savoy, as only agriculture was predominant. This forced young Savoyards to migrate. This very peculiar profession spreads in Austria in this way.
