Scenes from the Life of Mary
Melchior Seidl completed the ceiling frescoes at the end of the 17th century. In the centre field of the nave and in the choir, scenes from the life of Mary can be seen, including the Temple Walk. In this biblical scene, Mary's parents bring her child to Jerusalem in order to hand her over to the temple priests in accordance with a parental vow. Also on view is the Marriage to Joseph of Nazareth and the Annunciation. Here the angel Gabriel gives Mary the message that she will receive the Son of God through the Holy Spirit. Also to be admired is the Visitation, in which Mary meets Elizabeth, who, like Mary, is pregnant and expecting a son, the future John the Baptist.
