The twin sons of Isaac, Esau and Jacob, often get into quarrels in the course of their lives. The central point of their disputes is the right of the firstborn, which Jacob twice disputes with Esau.
In their later lives, however, there is a reconciliation. Esau leaves the homeland to Jacob and moves to the mountains of Seir with three local women. Esau is also equated with the name Edom and is considered the progenitor of the Edomites.
