10 - "Zum Auge Gottes" House
zoom in zoom out

The all-seeing eye of God, symbol of the house, is found above the entrance. The Renaissance frescoes on the face of the house tell the biblical story of the demise of Absalom, son of King David. His brother Amnon rapes their half-sister Tamar, and Absalom flees after killing Amnon. He gathers an army to usurp his father but is defeated in battle. Fleeing, his hair is caught in the branches of a tree and he is killed by his father’s troops while hanging there.
