In the middle of the square stands the Holy Trinity Column, made and erected 1736-38 by Passau sculptor Josef Matthias Götz. Above all the figures on the top of the St.Trinity under the aureole, including a Mary Immaculate on the globe. It is surrounded by St. Vitus (the city saint patron) with outstretched arms, the Holy John of Nepomuk with the crucifix in his hand and the St. Charles Borromeo with a book. The column was 2005/ 06 restored at great expense for the umpteenth time. It was again an immense challenge for the civil engineering technician of 21st century, which - as you can even convince yourself – was exemplified mastered.
