The Piaristenkirche, as it is called today, is built at the point where in the Middle Ages the earliest church was standing in Krems. In the year 1014 a church was mentioned in Krems for the first time in documents. After the parish function was transferred to the newly built church at the Pfarrplatz, a new large-scale jewel of Gothic architecture was created here. The new building with the record-breaking roof pitch was an enormous challenge and a feat of the 15 century.
