    Reconstruction of how it looked in the 13th century

    In 1231 the castle was destroyed by the Duke Friedrich II of Babenberg in the wake of a failed nobility uprising led by the Kuenringers. The rebuilding of the central tower was prohibited by the sovereign during the reconstruction.
