Weather

The Samtskhe-Javakheti region lies at an average altitude of 800 to 1000 meters above sea level. Some areas, like the Javakheti plateau, are significantly higher, at up to more than 2000 meters above sea level.

While summer temperatures in Georgia's capital Tbilisi can reach 40°C, even in July and August the temperature in most parts of Samtskhe-Javakheti does not rise much above 25°C. The weather can change very quickly from sunshine to rain or even thunderstorms and especially on the Javakheti plateau it can become pretty uncomfortable.

Sturdy shoes, warm clothes and protection against sun and rain are preferable at all times!
