To make very clear once more:
The ascent to Atskuri Castle is not for the faint hearted and by no means without danger!
The picture shows the narrow tunnel that awaits you at the foot of the mountain. The steps are very steep, but that's the easy part. After a few more steps behind the tunnel, you stand in front of a rock face that you can only conquer with real climbing if you want to make it all the way up to the castle. We were at the top of the highest tower in the castle. At the time of our visit (May 2022) there was a construction site in the upper part of the castle, including a freight elevator and exposed power cables. Enter at your own risk in the truest sense of the word and only with appropriate footwear!
