Hotel Eco Cottages
Hotel Eco Cottages is located in the village of Timotesubani in Borjomi district some 20 km east of the city of Borjomi. The area is rich of untouched nature for walking and hiking, one of the entrances of Borjomi-Karaghauli National Park, Georgia's largest national park with marked hiking routes, is only a couple of kilometres away. Just 200 metres from the cottages is Timotesubani Monastery, of the highlights our guide "Monasteries and Churches", including the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The mural paintings inside the church are among the best examples of Georgian medieval art. Most of the paintings were created between the years 1205 and 1215 and they are the jewel in the crown of a group of frescoes from the Golden Age of Georgia under the reign of Queen Tamar. In 2006, the Georgian Arts & Culture Center received together with its partners the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage for completing the renovation project in Timotesubani Church of the Assumption.
