Systematic Group
The Botanical Garden's Systematic Group takes up around half of the publicly accessible outdoor garden area. It is the largest of all the display groups and is in turn divided into 18 groups, in which more than 2,000 plant species are organised according to their relationship. For example, all the plants from the aster family (Asteraceae) grow together in group 17, the Mint familiy (Lamiaceae) and closely related species in group 12 and the sweet grasses (Poaceae) in group 3.
The Systematic Group is designed in the style of an English landscape garden. Visitors walk along winding paths between large trees and open meadow areas past the flowerbeds. Due to the large selection of species from all over the world, you will find many interesting specimens here, including many flowering plants.
