Baroque stables

The stables of the Spanish Riding School

Baroque shines anew

The stables on the ground floor of the Stable Palace have largely retained their Baroque appearance. As you can see in the image, the vaulting of the tract on the Stallburggasse is decorated with stucco busts of horses.

In the course of extensive renovations between 2002 and 2008 the halls, rich in tradition, were sensitively renewed and the Baroque magic of the stables brought out. But this time combined with the latest technology: a vacuum waste and ventilation system.

Visitors can enjoy a good view of the stables from the area of the Reitschulgasse overlooked by the Redouten Wing on the northwest side of Josefsplatz, in probably one of the finest Renaissance arcade courtyards in Vienna.
