Loft foyer

The loft foyer of the Redouten Wing of the Hofburg

From attic to foyer for the press

The entire roof truss of the Redouten Wing fell victim to the devastating fire of 1992. It was decided not only to replace the structure but to make use of the loft space.

Parallel to restorations the loft space was developed into a modern press foyer. An eye-catcher in the 3500 m2 Dachfoyer is a blue glass sphere which can be used as a closed off area for meetings. A large, triangular, glass-walled loft space overlooking the inner courtyard of the Summer Riding School, offers a tremendous view of the Michaelerkuppel and surrounding rooftops. The loft extension increased the usable floor area of the Redouten Wing from 7500 to over 11,168 m2.
